I have put this thread in another site, and no one was able to answer, and it surprised me a bit. This is the question ...... Last 4 or 5 days I noticed That when i use the bev hd 82, the picture is very choppy, then when i go to record and play back the audio is also choppy, all this only happens on bev 82 hd. The dn. 110 and 129 hd is ok no problem. I'm using SV 8000 hd. I leave you the courtesy to comment .. thanks

Verify your signal quality on the 82Hd channel. It needs to go up to at least 65%. Also make sure switch settings are appropriate. The lnb and cable connections have to be riliable as well.

You aren't the only one with issues. There is another thread about this issue on another forum talking about this very issue. Someone mentioned that right after beav did some maintenance a week ago it started to act up for them. Some say the sv8k is showing its age. I just got my beav and noticed this issue right away with my sv. I try to fix it with switching resolution back and forth from 720 to 1080 and it usually fixes it for a bit. It is a pita.

Thanks for your comment, I thought the same thing too

After conversations on another forum with thebeav and another member, it looks like it is indeed an isolated issue with the SV8k. Unfortunately for using it with blue is not an option for HD anymore. At least it works with DN still. Time to cut my losses and unload to invest in new boxes.

Very interesting, thank you very much for the information

It's been discussed extensively in the Beaver Iks threads.
A side by side test was done with a Jynx box showing SV has an issue that others don't.
The box is showing it's age.

I do not think that is a matter of age. I would be very happy if someone competent explain the situation a little better

Anyone found a solution for this? I'm having the same problem, plus when you record sound is choppy, and picture is in slow mo. Replaced the HD board with no solution.

Hi folks, I cannot test as my sv8000 fried in a power surge. However, there are a few reasons that I can think of that could be causing the jitter. First: are you using a single lnb with out a switch? I would try that first to see if that rectified the problem. If anyone is not experiencing problems please report your lnb, settings, etc. to see if we can identify the problem.

This appears to be a timing issue in the Video processing.
A long shot . What if the value of the crystal oscillator "X1" on the main board was changed to a higher value. It presently has a 30.000 value.

It worked for years with no issues.
Without monitoring the stream I don't know for sure but my guess is Bev has changed up something in the stream.
Just my guess....

Yes, I miss my sv8k big time. The problem is like someone mentioned, we have no support and this could be fixed easy if only a coder could pick up where others left it. This most likely will not happen so I parked mine and got a new box. Now keep in mind the new box it better but if you are on the wrong res setting while watching a B*V hd fast moving sports, that same jitter is present, just not as bad. The new box has update to match today's video while sv does not as it needs adjustment to the video codec that our sv8k uses. It's obvious B*V made these changes which is present in the stream and affecting mostly (like they probably planned) our SV8K boxes.

For a long time the sv8k has been a real work horse, and still works great on D*sh sats but maybe not for long?

My new pinwheel hd is a work in progress and looking good so far:)

Cheers

That would be a very bad idea!! The main xtal controls the timing for everything--serial port comms, HDMI timing, video sync, audio DAC--change the timing and nothing will work right.

My guess on what is happening would be two guesses. It could be that the HD stream is taking so much of the processor's time that you are limited on what else the box can do--but the boxes the provider's use are no faster than what we have by and large so that would not be a viable guess I'm thinking. But the suggestion that the stream is sending cmd07 packets more often would be a real killer IMO and that would be true of most any box as the web just does not let you update the CWs really fast (at least that was always the excuse about another NA provider and IKS where you only had 5 seconds).

You could make a change in the box's code to let you have an idea of how the stream is coming in--effectively make the box a "logger".

Hum, there could be a third possible guess--the box has to buffer a couple of frames to get the image displayed "smooth"--what if the coders only buffered a couple frames and should have buffered more? I know older boxes only had RAM enough for 3 frames, but with SD that is fine--one displaying, one ready for display and one being filled.

Yes sir that's what I'm saying. Picture is perfect. Biggest problem I have is it reboots sometimes when I switch severs. Also I have replaced all the caps not so lone ago and replaced the 8PSK with an updated one of ebay. I also leave the top cover off all the time. Other than that I have no idea why others are having problems and I'm not. Not like me to be lucky. lol

I have 3 of these SVs and the reboot when switching servers is NORMAL this is how they all are
The problems with the choppy or stuttering picture seems to be mostly with fast moving action like a lot of sports
or action films,I don`t really notice any of this on the channels i usually watch and it is fine for me
But out of curriosity i have checked on some sports channels and i did notice some stuttering but it is still watchable

scooby8888
11-16-2013, 11:04 PM
i also notice the stuttering only on the nhl package on bev all other channels on the 82 come in no stuttering at all. and yes the booting problem is very common with mine also I've tried a few tricks to stop it from doing it like waiting a few seconds when changing but it still does it. kind of a pain in the ass but I still love my sv :)

I find the best way to see the problem is tune in to CNN HD and watch the banner at the bottom of the screen. It scrolls in pulses rather than run across the screen smoothly.

That isn't a workable solution so I played around with the Display Mode and found that the stuttering went away for about 5 minutes when set to Pan & Scan and then toggled the display mode. A little better but no solution. I'll play around some more when I have time.

It appears that choppy picture only occurs on some HD channels. Mainly the network channels such as CBC and CTV. For example the SNH-O (channel 1405), the picture is fine.

No, the problem is definitely with the SV8000. Neither my Jynxbox Ultra nor my Nfusion HD has this problem. It's a shame because I really like my SV8000. Fortunately I don't watch BEV much so it isn't an issue.

Ufortunatly a solution will not be possible without a new bin file and that is not going to happen cause there are no more coders
willing to do this anymore

I noticed picture gets choppy on sat 82 only and on fast moving action (ex. hockey) but only at night during the day its fine
I wonder if it has something to do with the servers being overloaded ( more users at night)

Go to: A/V Setting either from the Menu OR by pushing the YELLOW button on your remote, go down to HDMI Input and change it to your right or left untill you see the picture is back to normal, even on the fast moving Hockey games.

The HDMI connection is a common issue on the SV8000, I switched to component no more problems
Also if you still have the dongle/Hub directly connected or plugged in to rear of the SV8000 that is a issue to.

its a little bit to get it up and running, picture quality is better than the sonicview, BUT, i think i have something set up wrong, and the system is sidless, which means i can only go on the cache port and don't get access to all the channels.this is only a problem if you want to watch something that nobody else is watching.
