A source says Dr. Conrad Murrary could face manslaughter charges for the death of the king of pop.

DEVELOPING:

An unidentified source is telling the Associated Press that prosecutors will seek an involuntary manslaughter indictment of Michael Jackson's doctor.

A law enforcement source says Dr. Conrad Murray will be prosecuted on a theory of gross negligence. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation remains open.

Before an indictment can be sought, the source says the Los Angeles Police Department will follow the formality of presenting the case to the district attorney. Both agencies have been working on the case along with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and the California Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement since Jackson died in June.

According to a report from TMZ, the Los Angeles Police Department concluded their investigation into the 50-year-old singer's June death Friday and the case will go to the District Attorney's office within weeks.

The LAPD has not released an official statement.

The city's District Attorney's office tells Fox News they cannot comment on the report because they have not even received the case yet.
