that dish is also a 24" elliptical no problems on that dish works good if it was a wire issue wouldn't I jhave problems with south as well??

I guess the only thing I can try if u guys think my wire is too long is to go out side bring a monitor and my box out, and hook it up beside the dish, that way I can rule that out..

Where are you located? (Don't answer here) I am far from the border and the 82コ sat is very weak, owing to Bevs use of spotbeam tech. See if you can find a Nimiq4 footprint and judge for yourself.

I use a 1.5 meter dish and an Invacom LNB, plus an inline signal booster at the pole. Even so, I can only record on a PC using a Genpix receiver. I do get a watchable HD sig with my Sonicview 8000's.

It may be a problem with the type/brand of dish your using, it may not have the necessary receive beamwidth to get all 5 satellites at once.

Your looking at 5 satellites separated by 47 degrees of arc, this may be too much for that dish, if you can, look up the spec's for its beamwidth and see if that may be the problem.

And to Mistress, get rid of the inline signal booster, all it's doing is injecting noise into the system. (We can start a new thread for this if you want to, we don't want to hijack this one, it's not nice to do so)

    Frodiddy,

What type of coax are you using and how long??

Type of coax used can make a big difference on long runs, good high quality RG-6 quad coax with a pure copper center conductor can be used out to around 150 feet, you can go out to 200 feet if DP of DPP type LNB's are used, the coax should also be rated out to 2.5 or 3 GHz, this would present less signal loss over the run.

On really long runs RG-11 coax should be used, I have one run at 255 feet using that type of coax.

my south works fine, 91w works great 82w only v polarity will work, I get good signal on H polarity just will say scramble channel!!
once an awhile I can get a few of the channels to come in it will work for a few mins, then its starts going a green squared pixels..
I'm gonna try tomorrow to set my receiver outside beside the dish with 5 ft cable and see if those chans come in, if then do then ill know its the cable, if they don't then I'm I think my receiver is defualty

have you tried flipping 82 and 91 on the switch...making 82 #5 on the switch and 91 #4? Or just running a single line to 82 to see what happens? If you are getting the other 4 sats with no problems it is not your box that has the problem, it's somewhere else.

How low to the horizon is 82W from your location?? (it's elevation)

On the 82W LNB if only the "V" polarity's are working then it could be a DC voltage problem, some standard LNB's use a +13 and +18 volts DC switching to go between the polarity's +13 volts DC = "V", +18 VDC = "H".

If your DC voltage to that LNB is too low it can't switch to the correct polarity.

This could be a switch, a coax or a connector, if the coax got wet at some time you could have a corrosion problem, this could be at the connector or inside the coax.

I fixed the issue turns out my cable tv coax and my sat coax all come through the same hole in wall and they were touching eachother, must have casued some sort of interference!!!
