Google's new iPhone rival is coming very soon
Google's new iPhone rival is coming very soon - and the company is having a bit of fun teasing us about it.
Suspicions that a phone was in the works at Google HQ appeared to be confirmed by the company itself in a video recently posted on Twitter, which shows its iconic search bar morphing into a phone alongside the date 'Oct 4'.
And the song playing? Redbone's 'Come and Get Your Love', so make of that what you will.
The tech giant is known to be holding a media event in San Francisco on October 4, where the phone is expected to be announced.
It's also set to reveal a 4K Chromecast during the much-anticipated event. But what can we expect from Google's first mobile phone?
The phones are widely expected to be called the Pixel and Pixel XL, although other information and that all-important release date will - at least if Google has its way - remain under wraps until the October 4 event.
A new 7-inch Android tablet tablet is also poised to be revealed, according to famed leaker Evan Blass.
There are also rumours that the company will unveil a new smart speaker called Google Home - set to compete directly with Amazon Echo, a speaker-come-virtual assistant that was made available for UK shipping last week - as well as a hardware and software platform to help any Android phone manufacturer create a VR headset.
But will Google's rival convince the Apple faithful to give up their beloved iPhones? We'll have to wait until October 4 to find out...
