Hurricane victims say don’t give money to American Red Cross

If you’re planning to donate money to help the victims of Hurricane Matthew in Haiti, think twice before giving to the American Red Cross (ARC).

Haitians are sending out desperate pleas for help following the storm that killed nearly 900 Haitians, but among them is a message to choose your charity of choice carefully.

It follows a damning report last year that examined how foreign aid sent to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake was spent.

The charity pledged to build 700 homes after receiving half a billion dollars in donations (about £310 million according to exchange.
