Default Help With MAC Address Question

    Hi,

I ordered GOLD tv (Eclipse) from a reseller last month and this month I found another reseller who's selling the same service for less so when I tried signing up with him, I couldn't because my previous reseller refused to release my MAC address. Is there anything I can do?

MAC adresses should automatically be released from a certain resller once your subscription is over.....

Tell the reseller holding your mac to play nice or the word will get out that they don't play nice.

I thought Gold TV worked with username and password only, no need for MAC address.

The reseller went under and now won't release it. He said that he couldn't do it and that my new reseller would have to put in a request. Now he totally stppoed replying.

I'm not sure what to do...can anything actually be done?

This seems to be a constant issue with the Mag's and iptv. I tried another reseller and he's telling me the same thing that he can't help me. Now I'm stuck with either paying more for a service I can get cheaper or having to pick a whole new service...sucks

If you have mag you can go wireless which will give you a different mac than being hardwired.

So I would have to buy a wireless adapter? I thought the MAC address was unique to each mag box and couldn't be changed? If the above can be done I will go out and buy a wireless adapter. Thanks for the suggestion...

You could tear into the box code to find where to modify the MAC addr. Many of these boxes have an 8 pin flash that is easy to pull to read. Some have "TTL" serial port access in the box that can be used to dump flash and write to it. If you can get an updated file in a USB memory, it might be written to the box via an update menu screen.

If your having problems with a server , why would you want to sign up with them again. The outcome is obvious, save yourself some grief and go elsewhere.

I agree 100% there are many other services out there. I am signed up with 2 other services that are not Gold. They are both good and from the same reseller.
