Go to the "Control Panel" and select the "Network and Sharing Center", open it and select the "Change Adapter Settings", you should have a "Local Area Connection" and a " Wireless Network Connection", make sure both are enabled, then highlight both and right click on one, select the "Bridge Connections", this should activate the "ICS*" then plug the LAN connection of the laptop into the receivers LAN port.

You should get an IP address from the laptop, and depending on the LAN ports you should not need a cross over cable, but on some older setups you may need one.

Yes I get ip addy and info to load on the receiver , I just dont get the server connection ok <> to show a 1 .

I also tried both a cat5 regular cable and a crossover with no server connection on either

Do you have a second computer? If so try setting it up on the LAN port on the laptop, see if you can connect to the internet that way.

If so then something funny going on with the receivers settings, if not then something is not quite right with the laptop ICS settings.

Also check to see that the "ICS" in the "Services" menu is set to "Automatic", to do this right click on "Computer" then select "Manage" (double click), then double click on "Services" then scroll down to "ICS", it should be set to automatic.

Also did you see a "Sharing" tab when you bridged connections? If not then that could be the problem.
