    Question Birdod Ultra Plus... specs

Does anyone know the specs on a Birdog Ultra Plus? Does it do Dik/B3V Turbo 8?

I know it has a spectrum analyzer and a constellation so if it will not lock turbo those option will help.

    from the birddog site

DishNetWork Western Arc Jun 1, 2016

    All Non-Ultra version users:

New files for DishNetWork 110/119 have been added to the 'Named Services' section of the 'Available Satellites' list on the Configure page.
    These files are named:
BL Dish 110 Tp 18 *New*
BR Dish 110 Tp 23 *New*
BL Dish 119 Tp 32 *New*
BR Dish 119 Tp 27 *New*

Other transponders for Dish 110 & Dish 119 have been added below the 'Named Services' section.

The 'Preconfigured' lists have been updated

    ALASKA users Jun 23, 2016
Test files for Alaska are available at the very bottom of the available satellites list on the Configure page.
Early results indicate that the following 2 files will lock:
    Dish tp26 119 QI
    Dish tp26 110 QI

NOTE - Non-Ultra version meters will no longer lock on 129 West.

    DishNetWork 77W
77W files on the 'Configure' and 'Preconfigure' pages have been updated to once again allow for the Non-Ultra version Birdog to show found.

NOTE - Because the Ultra version Birdog has the necessary hardware to read Turbo encryption, it continues to lock on all satellites for both Eastern and Western arc dishes.

Birdog Ultra will lock in on turbo 8psk signal. I haven't used mine for over a year, but I remember it did not discriminate between signals from 72.7/82/91 and 119/129; so sometimes was locking on wrong satellite.
I bought Applied Instruments xr-3 with turbos s2 module, that instrument puts the Birdog Ultra to shame. It's a bit more expensive, but well worth it. Birdog Ultra is really a Horizon meter, made in the U.K. and repurposed for North American market. The Applied Instrument meter is built in U.S.A, and is made for North Ameirican market. It is also alot sturdier than the Birdog, will verify the satellite you're locked on. Much better support, if there is an update you will receive an email if you registered the meter.

Actually the regular BD can't get Dik, at least not Turbo 8. I have the old serial version and as a work around I aim at Dave 119. I can't remember when they move all TP's to turbo 8 but if it was after June 1 2016 some BD stopped working on 110,119,129.

But it sound like the Ultra will lock. I will let you guys know soon.

If you read the post above it shows how you can lock on 110 and 119 with a regular birddog

    Nobody,

You might be right, the serial communication chip on my old BD is shot, one day I will replace it. But I thought the old original BD can't do turbo 8. I think that file on the website was from when they were moving TP's to Turbo 8 and a few TP's we left DVB? I can't remember when the completed the Turbo 8 move. If it's true my old BD has life I will get solder iron out and fix it. It pretty tired on the sat in connector too.

Anyway I picked up the Ultra Plus Version 4 for $150 Canadian today and it's mint, worth it one way or the other.
