Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Tennessee running back Chris Johnson punctuated a record-breaking performance with the go-ahead touchdown with 4:33 remaining in the fourth quarter, as the Titans defeated the Seattle Seahawks, 17-13, at Qwest Field.

Johnson had 134 yards and two scores on a career-high 36 carries. The second- year running back out of East Carolina became the sixth player in NFL history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a single season, finishing the 2009 campaign with 2,006. With 20 receiving yards, Johnson had 2,509 total yards from scrimmage for the Titans this season.

He broke a pair of single-season records along the way, eclipsing Earl Campbell's franchise record of 1,934 yards rushing, set in 1980, and Marshall Faulk's NFL mark of 2,429 yards from scrimmage in a season, set in 1999.

"It means a lot to get to 2,000 and get the win," Johnson said. "Hopefully, this will give us some momentum for next year."

Vince Young completed 17-of-28 passes for 171 yards and one interception for the Titans (8-8), who managed to finish with a .500 record despite a crippling 0-6 start to the season.

Matt Hasselbeck threw for 175 yards and a touchdown while connecting on half of his 30 attempts for Seattle (5-11), which ended the season on a four- game losing streak.

In the fourth quarter with Tennessee trailing by three point, a poor punt by Seattle's Jon Ryan resulted in excellent field position for the Titans. Ryan was fortunate to get the ball away as he mishandled the snap and was being pursued by a couple defenders.

Tennessee started at the Seahawks 28-yard line and Johnson capped the five- play drive with a one-yard plunge.

Hasselbeck led the troops to the Tennessee 27 before his pass intended for Justin Forsett was picked off by Gerald McRath. The Titans ran off the remaining 72 seconds.

Tennessee got the ball to begin the game and Young engineered a 13-play, 82- yard drive that Johnson capped with a six-yard TD run. The Seahawks tied the game on a six-yard TD pass from Hasselbeck to John Carlson with 9:41 to go in the second quarter.

Rob Bironas had an opportunity to restore the lead for Tennessee in the dying seconds of the first half, but pushed a 47-yard field goal wide left.

Seattle's first possession of the third quarter ended with Olindo Mare drilling a 35-yarder for a 10-7 edge. Bironas then converted from the length he previously missed, knotting the score with 4:40 remaining.

Johnson fumbled later in the frame and Deon Grant recovered for Seattle at the Tennessee 31. Mare then finished off a drive that bridged the third and fourth quarters with a 20-yard field goal for a 13-10 Seahawks lead.

The Titans appeared to seize the lead on the ensuing possession, but Johnson's 62-yard TD run was nullified by a holding penalty. Tennessee ultimately punted the ball away.
