Chances are that you can not directly plug in the computer if it is 5 years old. You will need to get an an additional card that plugs into the computer and then string a cable from this new card into your TV. The TV and the computer has to be close by in the same room. Check the connections on the back of the plasma TV, some of the plasma TV's had an analog connector. This is the same connector that plugs your monitor into the desktop computer, if you do have it then just simply unplug the cable going to the monitor and plug it into the back of the plasma tv. Consider the cost of buying the new card (about $65.00) and having some one install it for you ($70.00) plus the cost of the cable ($10.00). You can buy a new laptop ($250.00 - $350.00) just make sure it has an HDMI port before buying the new laptop, this new laptop will plug directly into your plasma and is portable. I would look at the back of the plasma Tv to make sure what kind of ports you have before spending any money.

Some TV's have a 3.5mm stereo audio input jack for PC audio....
