You have to be pretty great to be the title of an Elton John song, not to even mention that he named his baby after you. But Levon Helm never sold "cartoon balloons in town." He was the co-founder, drummer, and singer for The Band and an actor. It's his voice you hear in The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. Many will remember him as the narrator in The Right Stuff and as the old ammo expert in Shooter. Our prayers go out to Levon as he prepares for his final journey.

It's funny before I clicked on this thread, I was thinking that Levon Helm has to have the best smile in the world. And viola there he is smiling. Not much else I can say but sad to hear.

You're right. He has one of those light up your face smiles.
