Van is hard on their players, good for lou. Next year when the nucks cant keep a puck out of the net they will sure miss him.
It won't be easy to unload the Luongo contract. Should the Canucks succeed in making a trade they'll be lucky to get the rights to Bill Barilko. In fact it's being rumoured that Bill's old team, the Leafs, would be an acceptable destination for Luongo. GM Mike Gillis has denied rumours that Luongo has supplied a list. But the Leafs would certainly offer Luongo a comforting familiarity -- his former goalie coach Francoise Allaire, blue uniforms, long summers, and the kind of fans who would be considered scary at a prison boxing match. It makes sense for both teams -- unless Toronto tries to give Vancouver some players in return. Leafs? No thanks -- trying to quit.
But the Canucks will get salary cap space. And they'll be left with one of the game's best young goalies, probably backed up by the promising and even younger Eddie Lack.
Other moves may be in the offing, but a complete shakeup is highly unlikely. The Canucks are still a talented team. True, their greatest talent may be for breaking our poor hearts. But like Job or Poland, we are used to suffering. For now we must take comfort where we can. We delight in the knowledge that the Phoenix Coyotes have effectively suspended Duncan Keith for the remainder of the playoffs -- and that, with the defeat of the Boston Bruins, goaltender Tim "Tea Party" Thomas will be reduced to playing street hockey games with Ted Nugent.

I think it would be a mistake to trade the goalie that won Vancouver back-to-back presidents trophies and brought them to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. He may have had a sub-par post season but I think things would have been different if Daniel was healthy from the beginning - you saw the difference he made when he returned...completley different team.
I think the option they should explore is trading Schneider. They can get a MONUMENTAL return for him - probably a top prospect, another usable player, 1st rounder, and another mid round pick...at the very least. If Lack is anything like experts say he is, then letting Schneider go won't be as difficult. I doubt Lu can command that kind of return - especially now that teams know he wants out. But seems like Lu is gonna be the scapegoat for Gillis/Vigneault.

I think you are wrong with respects to being the scapegoat. the fans made sure of that. to trade Cory would be a big mistake. what would Lack be like. this we have to wait and see. dont listen to the experts. the first round of this stanley cup season, proved all of them wrong... Lou wants out of Vancouver. whats the point of staying someplace where your not appreciated. sure at times i shouted to take him out of net, when he was having a bad game. but i would not trade him. he was an asset to the canucks. Vancouver will regret when Louie moves on, to another team who can build around him...Good Luck Lou. you deserve better.............W/H A Canuck Fan......I think

When you put on that jersey, the name on the front is more important then the name on the back.

Lu wants out because the team made the decision to start Schneider in game 3 and on, and in essence, handed the ball to Schneider. If I was Lu I would probably want out as well after how that all unfolded. Personally, I would have went back to Luongo after Schneider lost game 3 but Vigneault went with Cory again.
But this is good news for all the teams looking for goaltending *cough Leafs cough*. I think they should trade for Lu. We could put together a package that makes sense...Kulemin, Komo, Reimer, 2012 1st rounder. Heck take any roster player not named Gardiner :tehe:
