THE SPORTS NETWORK

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Jason Terry scored 26 points and dished out five assists as the Dallas Mavericks sent the Pistons to their 10th straight loss, a 98-93 decision at American Airlines Center.

Dirk Nowitzki added 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Mavericks, who bounced back from a 131-96 loss to the Lakers on Sunday. Shawn Marion went 8-of-8 from the foul line on his way to 18 points while pulling down seven boards for the victors. Drew Gooden added 10 points and a game-high 18 rebounds.

Richard Hamilton ended with 20 points for the Pistons, who have dropped 10 in a row for the first time since the 1993-94 campaign when they lost their final 13 that season. Charlie Villanueva finished with 17 points and nine rebounds off the bench. Rodney Stuckey chipped in 15 points and six assists for Detroit, which has lost six straight as the visitor.

The Mavs started the fourth on an 11-3 spurt, which Terry capped with a jumper to give Dallas a 79-71 lead.

Trailing 94-86 with 1:45 to play, Detroit ripped off seven straight points. Ben Gordon ended the burst with a 17-foot jumper, cutting the gap to 94-93 with 14.7 seconds to go.

Nowitzki made a pair of foul shots at the other end of the floor to put the Mavericks up 96-93 with 10.4 ticks remaining.

After Stuckey missed a three-pointer from the corner, Marion made two shots from the charity stripe to seal the victory.

The Pistons, who led by as many as nine in the first quarter, held a 22-14 margin after 12 minutes. A Villanueva three-pointer had Detroit ahead 38-24 with 6 1/2 minutes to go until half. The Mavs used a run near the end of the stanza to get within 44-36 at the break.

Down 61-56 late in the third, Dallas ripped off six consecutive points to go in front. Marion's pair of free throws gave the Mavericks a 62-61 edge with less than two minutes remaining. The score was tied at 68 heading to the fourth.
