I missed out on sport a a young age, as I had to do chores on the farm during the week, when practices were on.
When the odd game on a weekend came, I just sat on the bench, as the kids that made it to practices were playing.
Lot's of pressure to win at a young age is everywhere.

I think that this should be posted in hockey arenas. I think hockey parents are the most excitable of all the sports. Parents have the vision that their kid is the next gretzky.

I can relate to this personally.... 45 years ago as a child less than 10 I was on 3rd with bases loaded & a weak batter at the plate. Tied with 2 out in the bottom of the ninth. My coach gave me the steal sign & had me take a lead almost half way home. I guess he knew the pitcher couldn't work from the stretch so when he started to wind up I took off & made a near perfect hook slide(per my coach) under the catcher over the plate. The catcher had the ball in his mitt on my chest. I looked up at the umpire(a teacher from my school who didn't care for some of my antics) for what seemed an eternity. He had his coke bottle thick glasses on at least. He seamed to take great pleasure in sneering & yelling "you're out" right in my face. Tears welled up as even the opposing catcher said it was a bad call, I was safe. I don't remember or I've blocked out what happened in extra innings, whether we won or lost, but that moment will stay with me forever.
