If I understand this right, Dish was getting their money and the customers were getting service. These were people that wouldn't have been able to get service otherwise. I'm having trouble...
exactly - he was making money off of those people they did not want to do business with in the first place..
He was loaning them his credit and his equipment..
No differant the leasing a car or buying a house - you pay interest..
The theft by deception - comes from the dish end..
As your contract states you are only allowed to use the equipment at the listed address..
And that you can NOT share an accounts - you know pay for a 4 receiver package and then hook your friends up on one of the receivers for $300 a month..
112 accounts with 4 receivers per account times $300 per month = $134,400 a month
Ok so give the enterprizing man a break 112 accounts at $300 = $33,600
unless he actually stole the equipment..
An Albany man is accused of ripping off more than $70,000 worth of Dish Network satellite TV equipment.
But i don't see how he would of gotten them activated..
After Reading that news clipping - I see no theft or deception at all.. They could not get the service, so he got the service for them - for a little extra fee..
That sounds like Business - and it is the general business model..
What dish doesn't make money off the service they provide? They pay for programing and jack it and sell to us - for a profit..
Why? Because we can't get the service.. OTA and that why we are here...
What is this world coming too..

1, maybe 2 max 3, not 112 on same area to pay 300 per month, this is just nothing.
I know you can activate accounts on line, if you have a SSN, I just dont believe this is something true.
If you are one of those paying 300$ lmao buy a CNX, then next month the new model that will be online lmao!! as the life siecle for those stbs, looks to be 2 or 3 monts, still you can save 50% hahahaha :laughat:

If he can get people to pay $300 a month for TV, it sounds like Dish should hire him as a salesman, not prosecute him. :D
