Junior welterweight Lamont Peterson has reportedly tested positive for synthetic testosterone, according to Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Peterson's upcoming HBO televised defense of his WBA/IBF titles, against Amir Khan on May 19th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, is now in jeopardy. Khan and Peterson had agreed, as part of their rematch terms, to take part in a random drug testing protocol.
“Peterson was found to have synthetic testosterone in his system according to tests conducted by VADA in March,” Carp said on Twitter on Monday night, citing the drug-testing agency.
Carp said VADA head Margaret Goodman declined to comment on the test, but he noted that “VADA has dropped Peterson from its client list.”

i was really looking forward to this fight too-whenever they test they split the sample so if the b sample tests positive he will be stripped of the belts and possibly banned

Nevada to rule on whether Khan-Cheaterson goes ahead on Thursday
Cheatersons b-sample was also dirty.
The last test he took on May 2nd came back clean though.

Peterson vs Khan Update: Peterson Reportedly Took Same 'Testosterone Pellets' Prior To First Bout
After waiting a night following the news that Lamont Peterson had tested positive for synthetic testosterone ahead of his May 19 rematch with Amir Khan, news is starting to come out. And that news is not good, to put it bluntly.
Ring Magazine's Twitter account is sharing details on what they've been told and it breaks down like this:
NSAC executive director, Keith Kizer, stated that he was told Peterson had used "testosterone pellets." Which he learned via Lamont's lawyer.
The pellets are placed under your armpit where they are slowly absorbed into your body.
Most shockingly, Kizer said that he was informed that Peterson had used the pellets prior to the first fight with Khan.
Quite frankly, we're seeing Lamont Peterson's career end in front of our eyes. The failed test was bad enough, but finding out that his career highlight win over Khan (which was already controversial) needs to be erased from the record books?
It'd almost be sad if it weren't so bizarre.
For Peterson to have requested the VADA testing and then be the one popped is like something out of a comedy sketch. You almost have to believe that there was someone in his ear telling him that this wasn't going to be caught and that requesting the testing would make him look even better.
Instead, it bit him in the ass and may very well have ended his career as a relevant boxer.
The fight is still not officially canceled, but I have a hard time seeing how it goes ahead at this point.

they will rule it a no contest, award kwan his belts back, and take his loss back as well.. And peterson goes down the drain.
