As a lifelong wrestling fan, there have been countless times when I’ve shaken my head at some of the ridiculousness we’ve gotten from the WWE.

Still, it’s a very rare occasion for me to literally cringe at a TV segment and find myself wishing that I was watching something else.

Last night was one of those times.

At the top of the second hour, Big Show lost a match to Kane after John Laurinaitis distracted Big Show and allowed Kane to hit him with the weakest chokeslam in history.

Given what had transpired between Show and Laurinaitis on last week’s Raw, this wasn’t surprising. What was surprising, however, was the 20-minute tearjerker that we got next.

For some reason unbeknownst to me, the creative team decided to book what instantly became one of the worst segments in WWE history.

Because Big Show mocked Laurinaitis’ voice on last week’s Raw, Laurinaitis wanted Show to apologize to him following his match. Show apologized, but Laurinaitis deemed his apology unacceptable.

Naturally, this led to Laurinaitis demanding that Show beg and plead to save his job. Show did just that, and it was so atrocious that it’s hard to even put in words.

This segment probably could have been done in about two minutes, but when you combined it with the match and all the pandering and waiting, it lasted nearly 20 minutes. Yes, 20 minutes of a two-hour show.

I’ve been watching wrestling for as long as I can remember, but I can honestly and truthfully tell you here today that that segment felt like the longest 20 minutes of my life.

I get that this segment is going to play a big role in WWE storylines going forward, but I still can’t believe I had to sit through that crap just for a storyline firing.

You wanna know why Knucklehead absolutely tanked at the box office? This is why.

While I’ll give Big Show credit for trying, his acting was borderline laughable, and as a result, the entire segment was too.

And this was a prime example of everything that is wrong with the WWE today.

The creative team wasted 15 to 20 percent of Raw to build up animosity between a 40-year-old wrestler and a 50-something authority figure when the outcome of this storyline couldn’t be more obvious.

Come on, we all know that Big Show is going to interfere in Laurinaitis’ match at Over the Limit on Sunday, help Laurinaitis win and save his job, get his own job back and then probably turn heel too.

Why did we need to use up 20 minutes of TV time on this crap when it could have been used to give CM Punk and Daniel Bryan some promo time or get another deserving star on the show?

I still can’t believe I spent all that time watching a middle-aged man attempt to cry, but instead, look like he was having trouble squeezing one out.

I need that mind eraser from Men in Black right now because that segment still has me baffled, blown away and, quite frankly, pretty furious.
