John Laurinaitis defeated John Cena last night at WWE Over the Limit, effectively saving his job as the general manager of both SmackDown and Raw. It wasn't without interference though, as Laurinaitis did what he's always done: used his absolute power to put those against him at a disadvantage.

In a ridiculous turn of events, Laurinaitis crawled into the crowd after suffering a brutal beating at the hands of Cena. It seemed as though the match would be ruled a no-contest due to the GM's disappearance, but something too predictable happened.

Big Show came out of the crowd, dragging Laurinaitis with him back into the ring, much to the delight of the spectators and Cena. Big Show made it seem as though he was going to work with Cena, but when Cena set Laurinaitis up for an F-U, the "unthinkable" happened. Big Show unloaded a thunderous right to Cena's face, knocking him unconscious, allowing the GM to drag himself over to Cena for a pinfall.

You had to see this one coming, as the stipulations of the match were that it was to be one-on-one, the GM was not allowed to appoint a special referee, all superstars were banned from ringside, pinfall and submission were the only ways to win and any WWE employee who chose to interfere with the match would be immediately fired.

As you all know, if Laurinaitis had lost the match, he would have been fired.

But that couldn't happen, as too much of a villain has been created in such a short time just to kick him to the curb. Couple that with Big Show's coincidental firing after countless confrontations with Laurinaitis, and you just had to know that Big Show would play a pivotal role in this matchup.

Big Show was fired less than a week ago. It was too fresh in the fans' minds to bring him out to impact a match of this gravity so severely. Couldn't the WWE have had Big Show fired maybe a month ago? Wouldn't that have been a little less predictable?

Put that part aside. Let's focus on his actions once he entered the ring. Wouldn't it have been less predictable for Big Show to accidentally knockout Cena? It would have been much more refreshing to see Big Show slam the GM onto Cena's bad arm then subsequently use some shady tactic to force Cena to submit.

Instead, we got to witness the unsurprising effects of Laurinaitis' totalitarian rule over all facets of the WWE.

Surely if they can come up with this cockamamy scheme to keep Laurinaitis as the GM of Raw and SmackDown, they could have thought of a way to make the match progress in a less foreseeable way than the final match of the night at WWE Over the Limit did.

I do have to give the WWE credit for putting on such a hilarious beginning to the match, which saw Cena smack the GM's bare chest, spin him around on his shoulders, ring the ringside bell in his ear, dump three bottles of water on him then spray him with a fire extinguisher.

The night ended with Michael Cole yelling about democracy and People Power remaining in effect, a ridiculous statement almost as predictable as Big Show's involvement in the match.
