With the news that superstar Chris Jericho has been suspended by the WWE for 30 days for desecrating the Brazilian flag on the company’s latest visit to the South-American Nation, there are questions within the company about how to handle the situation.

Despite being deeply remorseful for his actions, Jericho’s suspension will begin immediately. With the star likely returning to the road to do more concerts with his band Fozzy, we may not see Y2J again for another year.

As terrible as it is to see one of the best stars in the business have his latest run end this way, it's all part of the business. While there is no doubt that he will be back eventually, stars have to step up now to fill that void.

Cody Rhodes

With Cody Rhodes feuding with Christian for the Intercontinental title, it’s obvious that WWE is preparing Rhodes for a major title run at some point in the future by building him slowly.

The WWE may need to speed the process up and take Jericho’s spot as one of the top heels in the company. If Alberto del Rio and Sheamus doesn’t work out, don’t be surprised if Rhodes finds his way into a World Title match.

Rhodes has gotten exponentially better on the microphone and in the ring, but hasn’t been able to prove it on the big stage yet. Y2J’s suspension may have just moved the timetable up.

Daniel Bryan

With Daniel Bryan already taking Jericho’s spot in the CM Punk feud, WWE couldn’t have planned this any better. If there is any positive to take away from the suspension, it’s that Jericho was in limbo so no major storylines are ruined.

As much as Jericho will be missed, what the WWE is giving fans with the Bryan-Punk feud is new and exciting. As great as it was to see Punk and Jericho, the combo we have now is just as skilled in the ring and arguably just as exciting to watch.

The pressure was already on Bryan because of his size and the way WWE hates people that built their reputation elsewhere, but the "Yes! Yes! Yes!" chants have turned him into a WWE superstar. Bryan is the company’s new Jericho.

Big Show

Fans had been complaining about Big Show’s face persona since he turned because most people want to see the giant as the bad guy; the typical David and Goliath scenario.

With the WWE turning Big Show just a week before the Y2J incident, they couldn’t have looked any smarter than they have. It’s obvious the company was preparing for Jericho’s departure anyway, but the flag incident just sped up the process.

Most fans would agree that they would have loved to see a Y2J-Cena feud instead of a Big Show-Cena feud, but at least Show is interesting as a bad guy now instead of the bland face he had become.
