what the heck would you do ,, if you were out camping and you came upon one of these...
clearly climbing a tree is not the answer ,, unless you wanna be "bear snack"

Umm if I was camping I certainly wouldn't be climbing or running from a bear. They can out run you and out climb anyone.

I seen a video of that bear. They setup a big net suspended by 3 cranes and drugged it to fall into the net. Pretty scary to watch. Bear is ok

I was told, and thankfully never had to try, by a hunting buddy that you have to run as fast as possible down hill until you feel the bears hot breath on you’re a** than jump to on side. As it tries to stop it supposedly will lose footing and rolling down hill. As it gets up and starts coming at you again its much slower and you can get a few shots into it. Hopefully in the right area to stop it. Like I said never tried it and never want to.

That's a myth just like the one that says you should run downhill because the bears front paws are shorter than the rear and it will stumble and fall. I have never seen that one but I have seen bears run downhill and rather effectively as well.
Just out of curiosity, I wonder who on earth came up with these silly things? Like the first thing I'm looking for is a hill going down when I am eye to eye with a bear or being chased by one.
"Hurry Sam and turn right at the next pine tree and run 50 more yards then jump the stump and then hang a left at the first birch tree and you should see a rock. Run to the right side of it and the ground will start to turn into a downgrade. Hurry Sam you can do it! Now once you are running down hill jump to the left, do the hokie pokie and take your best shot at him":tehe:

Outrun the bear
Two campers are walking through the forest when they suddenly encounter a grizzly bear.
The bear rears up on his hind legs and lets out a terrifying roar.
Both campers are frozen in their tracks.
The first camper whispers, "I'm sure glad I wore my running shoes today."
"It doesn't matter what kind of shoes you're wearing, you're not gonna outrun that bear," replies the second.
"I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun YOU," he answers.
