At about 4 pm today (June 28), Ronnie Nathanielsz of Boxingscene reports that "SULAIMAN PROMISES TO MAKE MAYWEATHER-PACQUIAO".
In a statement made to Boxingscene, WBC President Sulaiman is quoted as saying, "Take it for sure as that I will do my best as this is the top fight the world wants to see." This was after learning that Pacquiao has told Arum that he wants to fight Mayweather this November while having dinner at Arum's home before flying out to the Holy land with Jinkee and his family.
Sulaiman is reported to have a congenial relationship with Floyd Mayweather and that there is great respect from Floyd's team as well.
As usual, Arum is lukewarm to the idea as he has his eyes set on Bradley, Marquez or even Cotto.
My take:
Pacquiao is starting to "flex his muscle" on Arum by stating unequivocally that there is only one boxer he wants to fight in November. He is not interested in Bradley. As for JMM, he would only consider this if the Mayweather plan falls through.
As for Cotto, I think that by "insinuating" that a deal with Mayweather for Dec 1 is a "done deal", (it is not!), he has two strike against him earning that sweepstakes with Pacquiao.
I also doubt Mayweather would bend over backward to give Cotto a "rematch". What for?
