SPURS BEATS HAPLESS NETS FOR THE 14TH STRAIGHT TIME

San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Manu Ginobili scored 21 points and the Spurs beat the Nets for a 14th straight time in the regular season, 97-85, at AT&T Center.
Tim Duncan ended with 14 points and 17 rebounds for the Spurs, who bounced back from a nine-point home loss to Dallas on Friday. Ian Mahinmi tallied 15 points and nine boards, while George Hill and ex-Net Richard Jefferson contributed 10 points in the victory.
The Spurs won in advance of a home meeting against the Lakers on Tuesday.
"It's good that we won, took care of business, but it's a totally different story. We play the best team in the league," Ginobili said. "It's a great test."
Brook Lopez had 28 points and 11 boards before fouling out for the Nets, who fell to 3-34 on the season. That record is nearly identical to the 4-34 all- time mark for the team in San Antonio.
Yi Jianlian ended with 16 points and eight rebounds for New Jersey, which also received 13 points from Chris Douglas-Roberts and 10 from Keyon Dooling.
Dooling's three-pointer moved the Nets to a 52-49 lead just 75 seconds into the third quarter, but the Spurs responded with a 14-4 spurt, capped by a Duncan layup at the midway point.
The Spurs later built their lead to 75-62 in the third and carried a 77-65 cushion to the fourth. The double-digit difference remained the rest of the way.
"We didn't play as good as defense as we've been playing," Nets coach Kiki Vandeweghe said. "They had some offensive rebounds and that's when the game broke open a little bit."
The Nets held a six-point lead late in the first and were up 22-20 after 12 minutes. San Antonio scored nine in a row in the second for a 35-27 lead but held a slim 49-47 edge at the half.
