Anybody ever vent a portable air conditioner thru a dryer vent? The unit comes with a 5" vent hose, but the dryer vent is 4" at the wall. Can I use a 5" to 4" reducer at the wall outlet without affecting performance?

You'll definitely lose efficiency by reducing the exhaust duct....

I did a whole house like that, one vent per room. Works great. Seal the venting well, cut foam insulation to plug hole for winter. They make a wall mount plate cover as well.

Satchick is right All-World....any time you reduce the factory vent allowance you will lose some performance. However if the port is 5" and you`re reducing it to 4" on a window air unit it should pose a negligible effect as long as it`s packed and insulated properly.

Wow that's a lot of work for a portable. just cut a 1x board the width of a window cut a round hole and stick the discharge line through it. don't waste your time or money trying to make a perfect...
