Is there someone out there that could please give me step by step instructions on hardwiring my laptop (windows 7) to ilink9000p? I have an ethernet crossover cable & a reg. cat5 cable, which one do I use? Or is this kind of setup possible? Sorry, I'm still learning about the computer so not really sure how to go about any of this! Any help is greatly appreciated!!

go to network and sharing
change adapter settings
right click on your card and select bridge connections
you'll probably need the crossover cable

Click the Start button

In the Search programs and files box, type ncpa.cpl, and then press ENTER.

Note If you use Windows XP, click the Start button, click Run, type ncpa.cplin the Open box, and then click OK.

Select the two network connections that you want to bridge. To do this, click the first network connection, press and hold the CTRL key, and then click the second network connection.

Select the two network connections you want to share

Right-click either of the selected network connections, and then click Bridge Connections.

Select Bridge Connections

Wait for the new connection icon to be displayed.

Note The new icon will be labeled Network Bridge. When the icon appears, the new connection is ready to use.

The Network Bridge icon appears

Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the network port on your portable computer. Plug the other end of the network cable into the back of your STB.

The above instructions are correct, also remember that you need to do this on an account with administrative rights. I think you'll need to have the cables connected first too, my 7 install hides inactive connections.
