I dont really know where to post this so I chose the largest IKS provider forum. 1st I would like to say that this post IS NOT aimed at NFPS.
I have become concerned that negative comments here have been assaulted by some and many of these assaults have been made by people with an interest in the service that was rated poorly. I always thought the purpose of a site such as this was to provide information to the members. This includes favorable comments AND unfavorable feedback as well. How are the great unwashed masses (me included) to decide on a course of action without all the information? If this site or any other is there only to promote a service then let us be honest about it. I greatly respect one of the sites that is up front and honest about their purpose to promote one IKS provider. At least there you know what to expect and you can look at the post in a realistic light but the support is great and comprehensive.
I have been doing this a long time and some of the old timers might be familiar with a few of my previous names from the alt7bar days or other sites. My little group of family and friends have more than 25 "donations" with more than 4 different IKS providers but only two of us read or post in any FTA groups. When we have problems, we check with each other to make sure it is not just a problem at one IP and most times we can come to a solid conclusion BEFORE one of us checks on line to see if the problem is widespread. WE ARE NOT GUESSING when we are having problems with just one provider - we pretty much know the problem is not at our end since we are in 3 states with different ISPs and using 4 different brands of STBs. In an effort to be a good net citizen in this group, my brother and I both feel that we should report good and bad performance of services that we use. Some of our post have not been received warmly and I am sure others have suffered the same fate. We have been doing this a long time and have developed a thick skin and we dont just go quietly into the night. This site does not seem to be infected with mods that are social misfits using their "mod" position to exercise power that they could never achieve in daily life. The mods here are competent and helpful with little or no animosity but some seem to think "any" negative comment is "bashing". I think all reviews are an important part of what we are here for and negative reports should be just as important as the good comments.
In recent days I made a negative post about a service that just didnt work for me and my review was not well received by a person that had an interest in the site. Most of the discussion was not in the public forum but I felt like there was an implied threat in private because I had written a negative review of a service that was producing income for him. In the last few days, my brother posted a negative comment about one of the IKS providers and his post was just simply deleted. His post and mine made NO PERSONAL ATTACKS and did not "bash" a site - we simply reported our experience with service (lack there of) from IKS providers discussed regularly at this site. If this is the policy and acceptable actions at this site, perhaps we should go quietly into the night. I am sure there are many here that have had similar experiences but I am also convinced that most of those will remain silent while the "old salts" will be all over the lot on this issue. The discussion should be over the guidelines of how far should we be allowed to roam with negative post about service or lack of service from IKS providers. However, I doubt that will be the case
I do hope over time that most of my post have been positive and/or an attempt to help others with problems. I also hope some here understand that my brother and I represent several thousand dollars of business to IKS providers. To be a little more honest - one of our providers is a PRIVATE service not listed here or anywhere else so take $500 or so out of the mix. For the "quiet" ones out there - SPEAK UP --there ARE IKS providers that do a VERY good job and at prices that are in line with services that just dont measure up.
