people next door are moving they have an " new internet satellite" bout a month old.this has a strange looking LNB/Device on it would this be of any use? i can get a pic and i am SURE they are NOT taking it with them!
They also have 2-3 mo old turbo d$#H setup that i doubt will be going either any use? hell i dunno how they could even afford these!
TKS!
Well, Its possible it can be used for FTA. The older internet dishes used a Ku LNF, but the newer ones use a Ka LNB, which will not work for TV...
On a side not you can pick up a great brand new LNB made for TV for around $10.00

The internet dish uses a Ka transmitter, and a Ku receiver, not much good for FTA, the dish will work but you have to get creative with how to mount the LNB's.
I have used an old "WildBlue" dish with a DP twin LNB on it, you have to remove the TX/RX junk off it (normally called a TRIA) and mount the LNB with its plastic holder, but it works great for FTA after that.
The Turbo dish is a good one, see if you can get it before they move.
And sometimes Dish wants the LNB's back, so if they are gone (the people next door) you may have to do this at night.

A Turbo dish wont do you any good for true fta. You need at least a 33" round...

If that is a "Wild-blue" internet dish then look at this one on how to use it for DN satellites.

That way will work on the 2005 - 2009 dishes, but not the new. The Tria support arms have changed...Actually the entire setup has changed, I'm not even sure if the dishes are the same.

I can almost guarantee that the internet dish is owned by the ISP and must be returned upon termination of service. The TRIA is not cheap, and I'm sure a technician will be around to retrieve it.
Removing either dish is theft, you don't own the house that they're attached to, and the internet dish will more than likely be property of the ISP unless the subscriber bought the equipment up front. I wouldn't touch either one without permission from the OWNER of the house, and making sure that the equipment doesn't belong to the provider.

Certainly What She Said!! If anyone sees you taking those, you could be charged with theft...and that's a Hughes Net dish ....those are NOT cheap , and could even be a felony ....Not worth that risk...

DN will want the LNBs at least on that dish back and the receiver if it's rented so I'd play it safe and leave that alone. You can find plenty of dishes and lnbs at garage sales and such. As far as the satellite dish I have no idea but I would bet the company that installed it (ownes it) will be back to pick it up JMO.

Yes leave it alone. It could be a eastern arc DN dish...They have a odd looking lnb on them...The renter will be back to get it, for sure. The turbo dish that is, dish wants them back. If it is a 1000.2 or 1000.4 western arc. Wait a while before you get it and ask the owner..;)

i know the owner of the house(landlord) so no prob from him hell he'll take it down and GIVE it to me! Anything left on the property after midnite now belongs to the owner of the house. And they cannot retrieve without permission. He is not responsibe for any contract/deal made by the renter the renter is and will have to pay.The people there had a brand new dave on there the charlie guy came to install and took that dish down and i asked for it for scrap and he gave it to me lol!

As long as you don't take it down, and the owner of the house gives it to you, your arse should be covered.... you could just say that your neighbor gave you some old dishes....
