So is it worth to get a bigger dish and a different LNB ( I already have) and point ti 97 west?

Is there any interesting feeds there? I see a lot are in the clear...FTA

I'm board of 110 & 119, what the heck can I watch other than PAY TV?

NO I don't want to set up a dish just to watch 1 channel.

I'm looking to get and point a dish where there are some cool feeds worth the effort...
Any Ideas???

Better to setup a 39" on a motor, that way you can play along the Clark belt.

Lots of channels on 97W but 90% are international.

You can catch a few network feeds now and then on 72W, and a few others, but "C" band has a ton of channels to look at, you will need at least a 6 foot dish for that.

There's always something on C Band Tubbs...Many channels are HD & the receivers are fairly inexpensive...

If you can find a good 10' dish, you will pull in most every HD channel...It seems like more & more channels are coming up either HD or if they're not HD they're still being broadcast DVB-S2...You pretty much need a big dish for that.

So, do I need a new Satellite box for "C" band or will my Viewsat 2000 work fine? or like a current HD unit, Ilink, Nfusion, ect.?

Those receivers will work fine but not recommended. An older coolsat, pansat or a newer hd unit like a skybox f3 will work great. Most of the feeds and decent fta programming is on c band, you will need a different lnb and a dish of at least 6-10'.

For an FTA receiver, you pretty much want to buy one like you would a PC...
Bigger processor, more RAM = better blind scan, recording, more storage for PID's, SR feq's...

Rule of thumb, new is usually better.
Costactc mentiond a great one Skybox, another, but it's a little more $$$ is the Micro HD...

Another good suggestion is the Openbox, they're inexpensive and will do HD and DVB-S2. Don't waste your time with a 6' dish, you won't be happy with it. You might be able to pull in the stronger HD feeds on a 7.5 or 8 footer, but a 10' is ideal. Of course, it depends on your location too. You can find C-band dishes for free, people are more than happy to have you remove them. You'll just need to buy a positioner and probably an LNB, along with the supplies to install it.

Good evening Satchick, I hope all is well with you. You should have a look at the Skybox(openbox) F3 receiver, cost of only $67.89 with shipping included and my fav for blind scanning:

All's well, and busy with work and some projects around the house. I haven't really had a whole lot of time to play around with this stuff, I haven't ran a scan in forever.

I think I asked you a while back about the S12, which looks good to me because it's small enough to attach to my TV mount.

The s12 is a great little receiver, and I mean real little but I do prefer the Skybox F3 and the price is better and it's also quite small. Glad to hear all is well Satchick.

Awesome stb Gold, my favourite and I have about 8 to choose from of which 3 are linux. I would definitely recommend it, stay away from the openbox s16.

Sorry for the hijack Tubbs but one of these inexpensive receivers would be ideal for a true fta setup:
