I have an elliptical dish that I would like to do 110/119 and 129.
Is it possible to have two receivers when there is only one line going in to the house.
I can add switches and stuff outside but only one Line comes into the house

1 line = 1 receiver , unless you want to use only 1 receiver at a time .

It's better to run a second coax, less headaches and receiver problems.

Many boxes have a "Loop out" on the back of the box on the tuner--that can feed a second receiver, but you are limited to the same polarity and satellite that the main box is running. To get the second box to have full features, you need two lines coming from each LNB with set of switches. Now if you got creative you could run the full set of LNBs down one coax, but you would have to mix down the second set of LNB signals to a low frequency and then inside the house mix them back to regular L band--that is sort of what DTV does with some of their signals--don't think there exist a standard LNB to let you do that at KU band, but it could be done if there was a real market for it.

The problems with 2 or more receivers on one coax is the control signals, they get all mixed up, two DN receivers could be used for this but you would have to subscribe to dish for that.

When receiver "A" wants to look at satellite "B" and receiver "B" wants to look at satellite "C" and your using one coax for both, the control signals to the LNB will get all jumbled up, this is why you use separate coaxes.

Then you can have 3 satellites and 512 receivers (biggest setup I have done) it's all in the switching and control.

The loop output is OK, but the signal loss through the loop output limits the distance to the second receiver, and as JVH has stated, your limited to the transponder and satellite that the first box in the loop is set to..


The hopper system from dish uses a three satellite on three bands setup, but it only works with their system, you have to install a node converter after the D1000 LNB, this puts 110 on one low band, 119 in the middle and 129 on the upper band, the coax needs to be replaced with stuff that will go to 3 GHz.
