Has anyone had a distributer gear strip on a 3 l aerostar ? I have, my 2nd time in a year. Only 160k km( about 99k miles) I had ford dealer fix it the first time. I thing they put on a used dist? Can you even get a new gear? Anyone know? This time I gotta do it. (no money to waste) So any ideas? Thanks

I have seen a few distributor gears strip before and I always replace the complete distributor. The gear might be available at the dealer. I am not shure but you mith be able to get the gear at the dealer. It might be cheaper to buy a complete distributor at the wreckers.
Good luck

Yeah the wrecker is your best bet. If that's your second gear there may be an issue with too much friction on the distributer shaft. Replace the whole thing used, lube it before install.
