It appears that the main event and co-main event have both been struck with problems.
First UFC president Dana White announced that featherweight champion and home-country favourite Jose Aldo was out of the main event versus Frankie Edgar on Oct. 13 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Then within 2 hours former light heavyweight champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson had to withdraw from his co-main event against Brazilian Glover Teixeira. This is a major blow for fans expecting these two fights.

However as a replacement it appears middleweight champion Anderson Silva will take on Stephan Bonnar in the main event of UFC 153 next month. The contest came together quickly in the wake of featherweight titleholder Jose Aldo being forced from his bout with Frankie Edgar after sustaining an injury when involved in a motorcycle accident on Saturday.

The UFC also announced that light heavyweight Glover Teixeira will now square off with fellow Brazilian Fabio Maldonado. Teixeira, he was originally scheduled to face former champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, but the disgruntled veteran was forced to pull out after suffering an elbow injury.

A heavyweight match-up between Brazilian superstar Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira and Dave Herman was also dded to the October 13 fight card. No word yet on how the main card will now be aligned, though it would be a good bet that Nogueira-Herman will move into the co-main event slot behind Silva-Bonnar, with Teixeira and Maldonado sliding down the card, which could spell a move to the preliminary portion of the event for Phil Davis and Wagner Prado.

It appears to me to be just as strong of a card but I will personally miss seeing Frankie Edgar fighting.
