Would be interesting and useful for anyone or their neighbor, bud, etc. who got letters to update on what's going on and how's their strategy going.

I am sure this has been asked before, but...
Is an American (living in the US) exempt from being prosecuted for taking BEV via IKS
and the reverse
Is a Canadian (living in Canada) exempt from being prosecuted for taking DN via IKS
Or is this just a myth and you will be prosecuted either way?

They can't sue you for a loss of income, since you can't legally sign up for their service in your respective countries. The only ones who received these letters were americans for viewing DN. But just because it hasn't happened, doesn't mean it won't happen. It is illegal to receive DN in Canada, simply because of the fact you can't legally get it there. Same with B*v in the states. So no a person is not "exempt from being prosecuted". In my limited knowledge of law humble opinion.

You didn't specify prosecution; that can be either civil, by the provider, or criminal, by the government.
In the U.S. it is illegal to intercept encrypted transmissions, regardless of country of origin, and that's not an opinion, that is a fact. I believe that the Canadian equivalent to our law is the same for their citizens, but cannot state that as a fact. So for criminal prosecution, an American would not be exempt, if caught, regardless if the reception was from a Canadian provider.
AFA civil litigation, Dave set up some sort of shop in Canada years ago, so he could go after Canucks that he discovered from their purchase of alleged descrambling equipment from busted dealers. So far, Charlie hasn't been that aggressive.
If one wants to play this game, they may end up leaving some skin on the table, and it's always been like that. Ya wanna be completely safe, spend the $ and sub.
