guys I want to possibley run my old Pansat 2700 for IKS. I don't need the info to connect, I am looking for physical part of setting up. the is will go in the basement. My computer on one side and tv at other end, about 25 feet apart. I don't want to buy a X-fta, just want to connect direct to computer, how can I set this up? Not sure If I will be lucky enough to find a data cable that long, so it connect from Pansat 2700 to computer. I thin there are cat5 cables with adapters for the data cable? can't recall. And what data cable for Pansat 2700 straight thru or null?

You can use a couple of adapters like the ones below. Bought two myself local for a little less than $5.00. Used them with a 50' cat5 cable. I pined the adapter at the pc straight and the one at the stb as twisted or pin 2 and 3 crossed. Seem to work good for the short time I messed around with it.

Is there a specific name for these adapters? And are you saying you twisted the pins yourself? or can I buy them like that, so virtually your saying one is different than the other?

DB9 Female to RJ45 Female Adapter (Universal Wiring). You will need to do the pin out yourself. One side of the DB9 end is numbered. Like the first illustration below on the Db9 side one adapter would be straight and the other would have pin 2 and 3 crossed. Here is the pin out for the ones I bought. Not sure if they all have the same color code:
Pin Color
1 Blue
2 Orange
3 Black
4 Red
5 Green
6 Yellow
7 Brown
8 White
The second pic you may can see the pins a little better.

you enter the info in the rq-sssp-client conf file.

can someone provide a example how to and what to enter in the rq-sssp-client conf file? It would help. I tried but did not add port, however I am sure there is a certain way of typing it out and I want to ensure I get it right.

It would look like this:
card_server_url_1=newcamd://username:password@serveraddress:port/deskey

You need to have serial cable and straight cable to your pc.
