A woman in Alaska is lucky to be alive after she fell off a cliff while she was sending a text messaage using her phone.
Maria Pestrikoff was smoking at her home, which is on a cliff. As she walked near the edge to toss the cigarette butt (and send a text message), she lost her footing and fell almost 60 feet down.
Maria’s friend heard her screams for help. The texting and butt-flicking mishap sent her down into the rocks below between boulders.
According to the Associated Press, the local fire department had to call for rope rescue experts to pluck her out from the treacherous terrain – all because she was distracted by text messaging. After the rescue, she was eventually airlifted to a hospital.
This situation sounds eerily similar to the case where a woman fell into a mall’s water fountain while texting.
The woman – who works at the mall and must’ve been familiar with the fountain – plunked straight into the fountain.
The security camera video went viral – she even sued the guys who posted the video.
And don’t forget the time when a boy – sucked into his Play Station Portable – fell onto subway tracks.
