As most of you now know, Hulk Hogan is currently suing his former best friend Bubba the Love Sponge for $100 Million in damages for leaking a tape of him having sex with Heather Clem, Bubba's wife at the time.
Wrestling fans have made some pretty outrageous claims regarding the tape since it was leaked, including that Hogan did so in order to get a deal with the WWE. Today we will take a look at a couple of those rumors.
Hogan Released the Tapes to Make Himself Relevant
The announcement from TMZ wasn't even cold yet before some fans claimed that Hogan had the tape released to make himself relevant. One fan commented the following after our article reporting the lawsuit:
"Hello, my name is Hulk Hogan.. aka Terry Bolea... I was a mega star of wrestling for many many years.. however lately my career has tanked, and now I have become a sorry sap of a man who cannot control my ego and continuously tries to find ways to stay in the news headlines... I guess I'm a loser... btw.. give me 100 million dollars for seeing my old ugly wrinklly ass on the internet!!..."
Really folks? Hogan is in TNA, not Hollywood. He is far from a Britney Spears or a Lindsey Lohan and releasing this tape will not bring him any "bad boy" press that could do his career any good whatsoever. The last I checked he didn't change his nickname to Warrior.
Hogan Released the Tape to Get Back Into the WWE
It eludes me how that the Hulk Hogan sex tape could possibly be used in any way to get Hogan back into the WWE, but that theory has been floated. He hasn't expressed any interest whatsoever in getting back into the WWE and if he did, why would he chose to leak a sex tape to accomplish that goal.
Last I checked, PG did not equal X unless you throw HBK and HHH into a ring. There are a hundred different things he could have done to try to accomplish such a goal and anyone that even remotely thinks a sex tape would gain favor with Vince apparently fell and bumped their head.
The release of this sex tape appears to be nothing more than an attempt by a greedy ex-friend who is trying to capitalize on his famous former friend. Hogan does not need to stoop to such tactics to further his career, which appears to be doing just fine over in TNA.
