Is this absolutely essential to activate the latest bin after loading it??

I believe some bins overwrite and some replace. If you knew it was replacing a bin then I would say no. But if you were overwriting or adding to the file then I would think you need to reboot to make it work. You should have been around in the old fortec days and you would get my drift. Anyhow that's my opinion and stickin to it..

PS: When at update or overwrite is done to your computer I believe a reboot is necessary but does not ask you to reboot if you are installing an operating system.

A factory default is always advisable after your stb has been flashed with a new file.
