View Full Version : What is setup for SW21 with Disecq?

I've searched here & didn't find an exact answer. Will an SW21 switch work with Disecq 1.0 switches? I want to feed sat 119 to my Nfusion receiver but there is no room on the Disecq so I will likely need an SW21 (I own 2 of them) to do that. If not an SW21 then something like it. The other q is, where would I position it.

There's separate cables to both receivers:

Nfusion HD rec- 1st Disecq 1 switch- 1 sat: 82 2 sat: 91 3 sat: 110 4 sat: 129

I-Link9500 rec- 2nd Disecq 1 switch- 1 sat: x 2 sat: 119 3 sat: 110 4 sat: 129

Offhand, I guess I'd just replace the 110 cable in port 3 with a short cable to an SW21 & connect 110 & 119 to it. Just thought I'd run it by your expertise here. Gotta ground everything too of course.

My LNB's are not exotic... they're dual. It says Dish 500 on the dishes. Not sure if they're Legacy or Standard.

if port 3 is for 110é119
then you also select sw 21 dish1 for 119 and sw 21 dish2 for 110

Yes I found that setting, in Antenna Setup, Legacy SW. I set it up that way but in scanning none of the right channels came in for either 110 or 119. 98% strength but no Quality & no confirm of the satellite in top right of screen (black letters).

In Antenna Setup, above the Legacy SW options, for Disecq settings I have mode as Disecq 1.0 & Option as port 3 for both & 110 & 119. Is that correct?

Your settings appear to be OK. Sounds to me like you might have bad switches. When you connected the SW21 did you unplug your STB(s)? Have you tried connecting to another Diseqc port?

Instead of messing around with 2 different switches why don't you simply go a buy a 4 in 1 out switch?

The simplest way to fix this, I quote

Ottid, I think I turned the stb off when I installed. I usually do. At some point I might try a different port but the disecq is not rusted out or anything- been fine all along.

Anubis& Turbopirate, yes I had my doubts about joining an SW21 to a disecq. I thought I read something about that years ago. Anyway if you could tell me what a 4 in 1 out switch is & how I'd use one in this situation. I just wanna add a 5th sat to the 4 I have on the Nfusion's disecq.

Turning off a STB is not good enough you have to use the switch on the back or even better unplug the unit or units froms the wall. If you have 2 STBs connected to an LNB both should be unplugged before messing with coaxes. As I said in my previous post I think you have fried eith your Diseqc switch or you SW21 or both. You may have also fried a LNB.
The only 4 in 1 out switch I know of is a Diseqc switch and that you have already. Because you are aiming at 5 birds you have to use either a SW21 or a 22kHz switch. Both are fully compatible with Diseqc switches. If you have to get new switches Chieta Heavy Duty or EMP Diseqc switches are highly recommended and DN Brand SW21 switches are recommended.

If your receiver has Diseqc 1.1 or 2.0 in it you can get an 8x1 diseqc switch, that way you don't have to add some extra signal loss to the system, just Google for one from EMP.

Just saw that.

8x1 like Terryl mentioned unless he can find a 6x1. Hard to find though.

I have 2 dishes, and look at the same 5 birds from Eastern Ont. I use two 8x1 QSAT Disecq switches and both receiver are working great.
KISS in effect.

Thanks y'all but if I was to buy one or two 8 port disecqs then I would have to spend $ just so one of my boxes could get one extra sat & also retire some perfectly good disecqs & switches. So for now anyway, I'd rather return to my original question- can a sw21, with the disecq, pick up the 5th satellite.

I guess I could just set up a switch near the boxes & switch the signal for 119 over to the nfusion on the rare times I wanna watch something from 119 on it.

Ottid all my eqpt is working, thanks anyway.

Post your Antenna Setup settings for the NFHD so we can see if there is something that can be changed there.

Then go back and re-read Dishusers post #4.

I checked & adjusted settings & it`s pulling in 119 nicely now. Ch 101 has pic & sound. Donno what was wrong before. I`ll write the settings anyway. 2 issues though: I scanned 119 & normal channels came in, but a bunch of repeated wrong channels from before are still in 119`s list. Total 501 tv channels & 137 radio which is too high I think. I haven`t discovered a way to erase channels all at once for a specific satellite so unless one of you knows a way then maybe tonight I`ll factory default & rescan everything. Also the s.u.n. is disconnected now.

I reread post 4- easy cuz it`s a short post. Maybe I missed some fine print somewhere ;)

In Antenna Setup:

Sat 110: everything same as below except Legacy SW: SW21 Dish 1.

Sat 119
LNB 11250
Disecq mode Disecq 1.0 (DP 21, 34)
Disecq option Port 3
Legacy SW SW 21 Dish 2
