Most satellites work with what are called "Footprints", these footprints cover certain areas of the globe, Amazonas 1&2 use footprints mostly covering South America.

Some of it's transponders cover North America, you can look at the link below to see the footprints that may be received by you at your location. (use the Ku band footprint)

http://www.satbeams.com/footprints?norad=28393

To tell what footprint is for what area take a look at the transponder listing for that satellite at this link,
http://www.satbeams.com/channels?norad=28393 in the listing for that transponder/channel you will see a indication on the beam, touching it with your mouse will tell you what footprint that transponder is using.

Example:

http://www.satbeams.com/images/empty.png016 Ku 10975V 30000 3/4 Amazonas 1 (61° W) Brasil QPSK DVB-SDTCom, NoC

The bold underlined is the footprint for that transponder.

Amazonas 1 from Ontario is only possible on c band with a dish of at least 10'. On the other hand, a 36" dish would be adequate for Amazonas 2 but there are only 2 active tp that are attainable from where you live. If your looking to open the Vivo or Claro packages your out of luck as those spotbeams are for South America.
