Hello Gang, here with this question about Satellite Receivers and Hardware........Clones to be exact, why are there clones of the originals receivers? I remember in 2004 when I entered this awesome hobby, wish is true what I heard, it is addictive, and proud on saying it, in that time a clone receiver was no good, a file, archive Firmware could kill it, but for the true purpose it was made, true fta, moving a motor for offset dish or an actuator for BUD Big Ugly Dish, are those clones also no good? If there are laws of copyrights why are this clones legally built? Anyway gang, say what you know, share what you have tested, for True FTA are clones Bad or basically the same as an original? Keep it safe clean like it is always done here at Satfix.
Thanks in advance TURBO

clones, knockoffs, imitations... just another product that are trying to make money off an original..

I think most of the receivers that were labelled clones were just receivers that shared the same processor and chipset as supported receivers back in the N1 and N2 era. Then there are outright ripoffs like some of the Dreambox receivers coming from China.
