How much memory is used to help unscramble?well friend if you hook up a receiver to the internet it,ll be scramble until you buy a code from a private server to connect too,and watch tv and unless you buy a new next fta receiver then you could use the public server for that receiver....

If your talking about the IKS connection you will see maybe a few kilobytes a day.

Between .24 and .66 MB per month if running 24hours a day for data transfer over the internet

Thanks. Sorry guy's I should have been more specific. I do understand how it works. I was just wondering as I am setting up a stb in a room without internet so looking at different ways to connect to the internet. I could easily use my phone when I am in the room.

You can also use wireless adapters.

I use a powerline adapter. It works great.

I guess you're referring to an IP phone, not a regular land line. You could also be using phone dialup internet (remember that?). You need to be more clear.
