I have 2 dreamlink hd receivers. One I have downstairs and the other is upstairs. There is something interfering with the receiver down stairs and I cant figure it out? My problem is only in the basement. I can swap receivers and they both act the same when downstairs. It is definately not the remote because I swapped them too. The problem stays in the basement. The actual problem is pretty bad because the remote doesnt respond properly. I can hit a button and it will do another operation. I can hit the ok button and it repsponds intermittently. Now as far as I understand the remote operates with IR technology. I dont have anything that I know of that will affect IR. The differences that I have with the upstairs setup is it sits on a metal stand it is beside tower speakers and center channel speaker. It is using a cate5 cable direct to receiver. There is a gas fireplace 2 feet from receiver. There is halogen track lighting in the room. There is a gas furnace behind the wall. None of this should effect the IF remote. The front panel buttons work fine. Both receiver had the the current file installed

I have the same problem with my Dreamlink HD receiver. I got my receiver 2 weeks ago and sometimes my remote doesn't respond and then sometimes when I am not even touching my remote, the channels will just change up or down 2 or 3 channels. Or the button I push on the remote actually does another function on the receiver. I have asked about this problem before on a couple forums but I have yet to have an answer that explains it.

Try with these lights off I have never seen Halogen lights interfere with a TV but have seen LED lights This was with the TV itself and not a remote
Another thing to try is blocking the receiver partially to see if you can figure out what direction it is coming from

It works fine in another location in the house, so its not the receiver.

Thanks for your response, but I turned the halogen lights off, I turned off all wireless connections in the house off, I moved the speakers far away and still have the same problem? I took it off the metal stand aswell

It is definately interferance on some sort because my problem goes away when I bring it to my upstairs setup. We just have to figure out what is causing the interferance. I will post the solution when I figure it out. I have a friend that said he had a similar problem and it turned out to be wireless rear speakers. I disabled my wireless setup in my house and still had the same problem in my basement.

try taking a piece of paper/cardboard to block the IR sensor From the right Then try from the left See if you can figure out what direction it is coming from You are looking for a IR signal so your Wireless "should not" bother it
One thing you can try is to take a digital camera and set it down on the receiver watch the display and see if you can see something givings off a pinkish purpleish light (this is a extreme long shot but worth a try)

It could be the TV set interfering with the remote, some TV sets use a frequency on the CFL that will interfere with the IR signals coming from the remote.

Try this, turn the brightness down on the TV set as low as you can and still get a picture, then turn the FTA receiver as far to the right or left as you can and still use the remote.

Try and control the receiver, if this works then it's the CFL (Cold Fluorescent Lighting) in the TV set that is doing it, a trip to a local photograph or (online) professional camera supply store for a CFL filter will stop this problem.

You just cut one out and tape it to the IR sensor on the receiver.

Or one way I fixed a problem like this was to hang a nice looking afghan or other type of material on the wall facing the receiver, this is a non reflective fix,it keeps the TV from reflecting back onto the receivers IF detector and blanking it out.
