I'm not sure if this is where to post this and i'm sure somewhere along the line this has already been said. But i read daily of people having connection problems with various iks. I have many friends and customers and very little problems. Here are just a few tips.
First, i never turn a machine off, not even standby, only my tv. For one it will keep the guide populated longer and second it keeps the connection. These boxes don't use a lot of power anyway. And as for heat, i have seen many issues but i've yet to experience any of that in all my yrs. Right back to fortec day's, but DON"T crowd the machine, leave it in open space.
Second, once you have it working.....leave it alone. Enjoy the features....guide, theme, recording, etc, but basically stay out of the menu. If mine goes scrambled i turn the channel then back again, if that doesn't work i might check in the menu to see if it's connected but that's it. If it's a freeze where the remote doesn't do anything, then do a hard reboot. If it's down for very long i come to this VERY helpful sight and see what others are saying. And if there are several others down, then just leave it alone till it comes back. It either will or something will eventually be posted here as what to do. If we need to go into the menu to change something the good folks here will let us know.
Now i'm far from a know it all in this, i come here often myself for help, but this has been my experience and hopefully it might save a few here some extra headaches.
