connection failed

Situation: From Canada in Florida. brought my receiver. getting connection failed. Possible problem: incoming cable from a service supplying tel,cable internet with a router attched. Question: would my connection to the router work for private satellite thru their router, maybe causing failed notice???

Connect fail describes making it to the sever but a denial of entry for any number of reasons.

Can you ping the ip from a dos prompt ??
Open a dos window and type " Ping xxx.xxx.xxx" and hit enter. Enter the ip where the "X's" are.
If you get a positive return, you have another problem and your not being blocked.
