Your talking about a dish500 yes?If google is right it is a 20 inch dish and of really no use for true fta
22-1/2" x 20" Dish = bad for true fta.You wouldn't hold a signal if a cloud came by if you could get a good signal at all

If your planning to use your vs stb for true fta, my suggestion would be a 36"-48" dish and a linear lnb(or invacom quad for circular and linear). If you add a motor then you can pull in well over 20 sats.

Hi jethro1
Your receiver will work fine. The dish you have has a circular L N B F and will get a very few channels from EchoStar 7 that are in the clear.
To get true FTA you will need to get a 36-inch dish or bigger and a standard linear L N B F. A $10-20 dollar one will work.
I have 9 dishes setup right now. The smallest is an old starch*ice 18’’x32’’ elliptical dish. Because sc use’s a linear signal and lnb they work for true FTA. I have one parked on GALAXY 28 right now and it dose well. Takes a heavy rain to stop signal. My Biggest is a 38 inch . gets galaxy 28 at 3xtimes the signal strength.
Costactc’s is the best idea. Dish with a motor would be nice.
