I just bought a 60" Samsung LED. The standard definition channels on the Dreamlink HD looks awful.

Is there a setting on Dreamlink HD to make the SD channels look better.

There is a "HD output" setting under the menu, which has 480P, 720P and 1080i. I tried selecting 480p, but even with this setting still the SD channels does not look all that great.

Is the 480P supposed to make the SD channels look better?

Set that to 1080i. SD is going to look every bit as bad as what they are actually transmitting, sorry to say. If you look at any number of SD channels, you will quickly see what I am saying. Some look a lot better than others. I am spoiled by HD now. That's all I want to watch.

A compressed sd signal on a 60 inch tv will never give a very good image.. Only thing that will help is a HD signal..

Only problem is that most of the international channels are not HD and therefore stuck watching in SD these international channels.

Does selecting different modes (1080i, 720P and 480P) make any difference on the SD or HD channels. What is this selection function really supposed to do. I do not really see the difference.

yr best bet is to keep it at 1080i and play around with yr tv settings.

I've got digital cable box and dreamlink hd receiver set at 1080i and all is hooked up via my hdmi ports on 42 inch 1080p led tv and I don't find much difference between sd channels on either one.I did find when I went from a 32 to a 42 inch the sd quality went down a little. It might be that the larger the tv the lousier they are gonna look on sd

I went form 52 inch LCD to 60 inch LED, and it made a big difference in the sd picture quality (way worse on 60 inch LED).

Hold that thought. This provider really wants to all but eliminate non-turbo SD. He really wants the old IRD owners to upgrade but is too cheap to just send them a new HD. He wants them to pay. So we are playing this whole push - pull thing, but in the end Western Arc will go full turbo when he does figure it out just like Eastern Arc. Then all the old SD FTAs will become a collection of electronic Lego blocks. One way or the other we will lose SD channels and Turbo/HD will take over. So adapt or fall by the wayside.
