hello,

I have a viewsat ultra that I just dug out of the closet. used it when fta used to get the 110 and other satelites.

Is this receiver able to be programed again or should i just throw it out.

If it can still be used. can someone tell me what i need and what i need to do.

There were many satellites, other than 110, that were available, and still are, using all the different brand receivers.
All the receivers can be programmed but as we are using iks now, you need only to stay connected to a server of your choice. the receivers need a "dongle", to make them internet ready, and a specific bin for that combination which is usually just a one-time thing. a network configuration will have to be done. afterwards, you will scan in what ever sats your server supports. whatever problems your server has, (ecm, down, maintainance, missing channels, freezing, etc.) show on your end. you just wait it out. maybe this scratched the surface for you.
A little reading will help you a lot.

as described there 4 different ways to do setup. they are wfemu with linux computer running wfemu rq-client software or windows running xx-client. also you can get an xfta router and do setup with that, or you can load sssp files to receiver and on windows computer run rq-client and use coolsat as type of receiver connecting to. also the xfta will work with coolsat protocall, that with server info is what you need.
