i'm laptop brain dead and my daughter wants home wifi. i need ya'lls help

i work online and need time to get my work my daughter is 20 and she has a nice windows 7 laptop with wifi access she take it to starbucks so i know it works. but i am an old school old fart with xp in my desktop with a cable modem and if i could still make windows 98 work i'd still use it. lol it took me a long time before i gave up the ghost and started useing xp. lol i never have used a laptop nor wifi stuff and with a teenage daughter wanting to use her laptop i want to do this for her. my neighbors daughter has a 4 year old son and he likes looking at batman lego vidios and games and this keeps him seduceed for hours and out of trouble. you guys are great and know what to do. i need help and don't want to be at the mercy of a minimum wage salesman to determine what i need to buy to upgrade my one network cork cable modem to get home wifi so they will shut up and get off my computor so i can get forum time again. please help me what do i need to buy and where. lol i'll pay have money just dont know what to get to do what they want so i can regain control of my desktop and let her go to school online and facebook crap and intetain the 4 year old with games on cell phone. what do i do thanks in advance. lol lol

ive got a neighbor that his grandson is my adopted grandson and its within 100 foot of my home. thank ya'll in advance i wanted someone to give me thier opinoun so i would be at the mercy of an ex mcdonald worker that wanted to super size my order at best buy and be at thier mercy. i don't have a clue what my daughter needs. i am an old fart. lol and never even messed with a laptop. lol

get a router for your home
get a repeater router for neighbour

Well I'm not sure? If you go to start on the computer and look for connect to and go to Show all connection or wireless connection you should be able to see your connection? High-lite yours and enter your password into it??
I'm a old XP guy also lol :hehe:

you can get two 4 in 1 asus routers for under $80 new
for something that fits in the palm of your hand you'll be very impressed

thanks DU if i could double thank you i would. i bought a belkin ac750 which was better than the one the best buy people said would work. lol it wasn't that much more and for under 100 i made it work. they called repeaters extenders i guess thats the same thing and what a birthday present. i get my computor back get to set up neighbors house so there grandkid and mine can watch batman lego vidios and i'm multi tasking. lol it has sped up my desktop and with this i can hook up a desktop to my flatscreen tv and watch netflix and porn. lol thanks i couldn't find anus stuff but this should work. someone at another site told me the metal might affect it so i figured that one out. i have double pained windows i can put modem in between pains and it should work outside as well as inside. i can put a repeater in her window inbetween the pains and that should work. lol this thing has a 500 foot range. he told me with the extender it would cost more if i bought them seperatly and if i bought a 600 modem it would have the range. i read thru them and spent a little more and got this 750. lol i still feel bad about going off on you DU at a different site along time ago. I wasn't myself lol my brother just died. Public apology . thanks your info did help i had no idea what i was getting myself into. lol its all plug and prey stuff so it works now. lol
