Flashing USB Initializing

I have a 9600 that I am trying to get to record but all I get is USB Initializing when I hook up a hard drive. I had a 9500 that I used the same hard drive on but for some reason it wont work with the 9600. I am using a western digital and like I said it worked with my 9500 anybody want to help on this..............thanks.........two-dogs

Couple things to try. Try plugging the usb in after the box is up and running. You could also try reformatting the drive using the 9600. hope this helps.

Thanks whoknows for answering my post........ok I have tried to plug it in after and before boot up with no avail. Now could you tell me the steps to reformat my hard drive using the 9600...........thanks two-dogs

connect the harddrive to your computer and format it there. If your receiver can't read it, it can't format it either

Sorry I thought you could do it on the receiver. I have a lot of saved stuff on the hard drive and will have to figure out how to make a partition..........thank..........two-dogs

Ok I formatted the drive with fat32, I don't d think it works with ntfs will it? I was told to use CCleaner to wipe the drive before formatting. I didn't want to wait the 3 hours to complete the wipe and that was a mistake. I put the drive in and it would lock up the screen like a bad video card would do. So did it again and waited the 3 hours to wipe it and then formatted but it still just blinks and doesn't initialize ..............anything else I can try...........thanks..two-dogs
