My own "I need help" Thread

I unintentionally hijacked someone elses thread so I figured id make my own... I have a limesat ultra stb that I have been trying to set up... I had a friend of mine that is more familiar with them load the files and it is up and running but, I cant seem to get all of the channels or ppv's to come in. Im wondering if anyone would chime in and help to make sure I have all the settings right. I have searched around and from what Ive seen I have everything correct and still no dice... Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Which satellites are you pointing at ? What is Q on the first tp (12297 for 119 if you're pointing at it) for each one in antenna settings?

Im pointing at 119 and 110 as far as I know... Again I am a complete noob at this and some of the abbreviations dont make too much sense to me, TP = Transponder? The "Q" is bouncing between 49 and 99 while doing a channel search on 119 and I have it set to 12297. Would someone be willing to call and help me so I can make sure I have all the settings correct? Im willing to make a donation for your time...

Yes, while in the channel search it bounces while its going through the channels...

You say you can't get all the channels to come in. Are they showing in your guide? Are you using a P$ (private server)? If you are it is possible those channels are not showing with your P$.
The quality fluctuation is interesting. If you are in your menu and say you are at the 119 sat showing tp 12297 and you have lock your signal and quality at the bottom should be pretty constant. Is it?

If you can post what your settings are that would help.

Those tp's are the main ones to secure a lock. If you use a dud tp it does not show you if you are locked on a sat properly.

Change what I put in bold to normal.
Same for your 110.
I am assuming you have standard lnbs.

Yes it will fluctuate when scanning.

On my 110 the Q is at 0 and the S is at 70... I changed the LNB type to normal and still no difference in channels... Im not sure what a LNB is to answer if theyre standard or not... and where do I find what P$ im using? Again, Im really sorry guys but im lost on this...

1. Open menu and scroll down to network settings.
2. Click "ok". You now need to right arrow (button) and scroll down to highlight server setting.
3. Click ok and a new password screen opens.
type in 0000.
4. Now you have a new screen shown in. Right arrow and then click ok.
5. You are now in the screen where your P$ information that was sent to you is.

What is the server? That is the info in the first line.

It depends but yes that is the norm.

If that's the case ocs-dp is correct. The lnb in question has a built in switch and 119 has to be set to diseqc port 1 ( or equivalent) and 110 to diseqc port 2.

With this lnb you should not be using an external switch ( wgen going to one receiver )

Yes I was basing it on a standard lnb. Now that we know what you have StanW is correct to go back to where it was.
You will also need to change 119 to diseq 1 as mentioned.

Try an autoscan with those settings . One satellite at a time . How many radio/tv channels does each pull in?

Change nothing but say yes when prompted to delete existing.

You should be able to scan 450 plus channels for 119.

When scan is done exit out of the menu fully then go back in and scan sat 110.

K that's good now follow they same thing but for sat 110. Change the Transponder to 12224 and turn 22khz off. Just make sure you have a lock on the sat. It will show at the top like it did for 119 when locked. Once locked scan.

How do i get a lock on the sat? once i changed the transponder to 12224 the Q dropped to 00

Then change transponder to a different number making sure you have at least 85 Q and it locks at the top.

On the LNB on the sat. dish only the 119 side has the coaxial cable hooked to it and its running to the stb... is that right?

I am not very familiar with that type of lnb but StanW is a guru for that stuff. Let me grab him. Just out of curiosity if you change the khz to on for the 110 can you get a signal when you check the transponders> change them slowly to see if you get signal?

You should have Q on 12224 on 110 . When you go to a tp that has Q do you get a lock on 110 ? If you do your dish requires minor tweaking - that would also explain the lack of certain (hd) channels.

Make sure 22khz is off for both 119 and 110.

sounds like a dp twin ..can feed 2 stb's...

Since you're not using a 22khz it should be set to off . That setting shouldn't affect your Q tho.

To summarize - if you are not getting a lock on 110 with the settings posted in post #33 than you will have to tweak the dish , adjusting the skew should do it.

I'm leaning towards a dish tweak as well. That's why I wanted to know the S and Q for 119. Any lower than 85 Q and definitely a dish tweak.

He has S on 110 - I believe he said 70. Plus he pulled in the correct amount of channels on 119 with ocs-dp settings.

I think it is safe to surmise a dish tweak is in order then he needs to update his P$ info and he should be ok. Well somewhat if channels would come back for P$'s. lol

ppv is a server thing, not much you can do about that.

The PPV channels are showing up as scrambled channel

PPV channels start at 526 I believe and go up from there. It is possible they are not showing on your P$.

You could start a thread there as well and ask if anyone else is getting them.
Glad to hear you have both 119 and 110.
I think a bit more adjusting of the dish and you should be able to scan in more channels on both. The magic min. Q on the ultra is 85. If you can get that then you will scan what is available for you.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. You have picture so leave as is. If you lose picture head to the link I gave you in post 55 and read the up/down status and the anouncement thread.
The code checker thread will also tell you how long you have left on your code and if you need to change anything.
