View Full Version : Another "Best STB" question.....

I KNOW this has probably been covered NUMEROUS times, but I can't really find any straight forward answers. I currently have an iLink 9600 HD, and having b3v and d1sh on it simply is not working.
I currently have to trick the receiver into getting b3v to work, and it only works if d1sh svr is not down, which kind of defeats the purpose having the 2 netwks on 2 different srvrs.

My question, is which receiver out there, HD, can switch between the 2 netwks flawlessly, without having to trick it, or anything of the sort?

Thanks for your time!

Pretty much any other receiver other than the Ilink. I have come across this same issue with the same box numerous times.

Ugh... Its aweful that such a nice reciever lacks the fuctionality to do this. It has a nice interface, but communicates terribly.

Ya know, I heard that.
I have a JB v2, but it's currently lent out at the moment. Personally, I think the EPG isn't as good as it should be, altough thats really no reason not to buy it, but the box as a whole, is a lot more sluggish than the ilink. When I browse EPG, or the SID list, i'll hold up or down button, but when I release, it keeps on going. Thats just one of my gripes with JB.
I do, however, appreciate your input.

I just ordered the Dreamlink HD from Amazon.... Not too sure which version, although it doesn't say on the page.... Maybe someone can check it out for me? Im not really familliar with Dreamlink HD, but it's the only one available on there with free supersaver shipping.

Thanks again satFIX!

if you don't like the epg on the jynx than you will most likely hate the dreamlinks epg,
the jynx's epg works rather well imo

You may be right. It was my first unit, so I may have screwed the FW up a bit, causing it to react the way it did.... Ill see how the DLink goes, and go from there. If the JB is better, Ill switchem out.

Thanks for that.

Seriously how you tricked your IRD???
Because i have an Ilink9500HD configured only for bev, and i tried zillion ways with different p$ , nothing worked..

Ok, firstly, they don't both run at the same time, but it was the only stb i had available.
What I had to do, was make sure both s3rv3rs were connected in p$ settings, then make sure i was on a working channel on d1sh, and then I would immediately go to a b3v chan (one that I knew worked... I usually used 1078), go back into the p$ settings and turn the d1sh p$ off, and the b3v would immediately start working. Strange huh? But it worked. Unfortunately, when ANY sort of d1sh ECM would come along, for some reason, I couldn't trick b3v. So it was kind-of pointless to have, ya know?

Got the DL up and running, and I love it.
The EPG isn't that graphical, but it's quick.
I have now, the JB HD v2, the iLink 9600 HD, and the DL, and the DL blows the other two away.
I couldn't ask for more.
Thanks everyone for your input.

The issue is i only have a dish pointed at north, so i don't have south signal but i have its transponders/channels, so you think your trick will work ?

- So DL beats the 2 other irds on picture quality ?

I love the DL.
In my opinion, out of the three, this is the best box.

You need to have both North and South aligned to get it to work..... How do you have anything pertaining to south if you don't have this aligned?

Some people care more than others about the picture quality.
I can't really tell the difference between the three, but from what I'v read, some people say JB has a slightly better pic quality than DL. ILink was a great pic, but the flaws this box make all the difference. I need stability over picture quality, and DL is the best when it comes to that, in my opinion.

I have to add, if you plan on going both north and south, ilink isn't worth the headache. I haven't tried JB on both, but I would recomend getting DL if you are going that route. You'll save the money you spend on it in time you won't have to spend screwing with it, lol.

Have a great day SatFIX!
