One day I saw my receiver trying to boot over and over. I assume this is the dreaded boot loop. I tried to turn off and back on again (a fix for about 70% of all problems, :tehe:) and it never came back on. Anyway, I saw a fix that said unhook everything except the power, make sure power is off, and put the USB stick in with the latest bin file (the post said PFTAHDMSW-081014HM.peg) and rename it PFTAHDMSW.peg. I can't find the dang files section on here though! Can someone point me it? If this doesn't work, any advice? Just reupped my donation (twice, thanks Nokia) and don't want to piss away another. Thanks!

You know what, it's amazing what shows up when ya log on! :laughat: Anythehoo, I got the instructions from bootfix0 file and it said to do this

Put your usb stick in your computer.Right click the desktop and create a new folder, name this USB. Now download boot fix version 0 not v2.Once you have downloaded that, unzip it.Now rename it to PFTAHDSW.pgm. Once you have renamed it, drag it to the USB folder you created earlier. Now safely remove the usb stick. Disconnect any inputs to the receiver and insert the stick into the stb. Now turn on the receiver from the switch in the back. What should happen is the receiver will go boot and then hopefully it will go to check usb at this point it should recognize the stick and install the file once it has installed pull the usb stick out as soon as it goes to erase then program. It should reboot by itself after this and if it worked it will go to no chan. You are done. Now install latest factory bin the regular way with the usb stick, then 110802 bin.

Well, I got to the part where it said to power up from the switch in the back and nothing has happened yet. Soooooo now what?

Thanks for the reply. Yes the one you directed me to is the one that I tried. I followed the instructions and when I powered on from the switch in the back, nothing happened.

Anything else?

You say it was booting over and over, then with a power off/on it never went back to "booting". If it doesn't indicate "booting" you may have a power supply problem. Mine kept getting slower to indicate "booting" until finally it wouldn't indicate it. It was a swollen capacitor in the power supply board. The old viewsats are known for this problem. Caps have fluid in them and when they dry out they quit working.

If you read the thread VS-9000HD-Power-supply: http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php?120741-VS-9000HD-Power-supply you will get more info on this. I had wired in my own internal cooling fans that were starting and stopping over and over which lead me to the power supply board. If you don't have an electronic background, you might want to get some help troubleshooting this board. Good luck!

Dishfish, sounds like the same issue. I will check into it. Thanks a bunch and sorry for the snafu.

You may find that there is a short in the coax cable too. Possibly corroded connectors or a faulty diseqc switch. Try disconnecting the coax from the VS9000 and see if it keeps rebooting. Maybe worth a try before having to go the "power supply" route.
